Police have revealed new details about the Adelabu rescue operation that led to the safe recovery of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and her twin sons in Ibadan.

According to information shared by Nigeria Police Force New Media Officer Aliyu Giwa, investigators uncovered evidence showing that the kidnappers had monitored the family for weeks before carrying out the abduction.

The victims, Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo and her twin sons, were abducted on June 3, 2026, while she was taking the children to school in Ibadan.

Adelabu Rescue Operation Began With Intelligence Gathering

Police said the kidnappers allegedly conducted surveillance on the family before the attack. Investigators claim the suspects tracked the victim’s movements, monitored her children’s school routine, and studied her daily activities.

According to the police account, the gang even attempted to recruit an insider from the household before carrying out the operation.

Following the abduction, the Inspector-General of Police reportedly ordered an immediate coordinated response involving the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) and the Oyo State Police Command.

The police said the investigation progressed after the arrest of suspects identified as Wale Abolalewa, also known as “Oloro”, and Dare Oyedele, also known as “Solution”.

Authorities said intelligence gathered from the suspects led operatives to a hideout in Ayegun, Ibadan.

Police disclosed that operatives raided the location at about 7:30 p.m. on June 6, roughly 84 hours after the victims were abducted.

According to the police, one suspect identified as “Kelechi” allegedly opened fire on officers during the operation and was neutralised along with another gang member.
